Robert G. McLoskey, 41
Garrettsville - Memorial services will be held at noon on Monday, April 2, 2012, at the Poland United Methodist Church in Poland, with calling hours at 11 a.m. for Robert G. McLoskey, 41. He passed away Wednesday, March 28, surrounded by family and friends after an 18 year long courageous battle with cancer.
Bob was born Sept. 19, 1970, in Youngstown. He was the son of William and Janice McLoskey of Boardman.
He graduated in 1989 from Boardman High School. Bob joined the Navy, serving from 1989 to 1993 during Desert Storm. He was stationed at Jacksonville NAS and was a helicopter hydraulic specialist. Bob attended ITT Technical Institute, graduating with an associates degree in CAD. He worked for McLoskey Building Maintenance, Amwell in Garrettsville, and Site Work in Bainbridge.
Bob loved music. He spent many hours playing his beloved guitars and truly respected the nostalgia of old vinyl records. Bob was also an advocate for wildlife of all kinds. He was known for just picking up and disappearing into the path not taken for hours, in any woods he could find new adventures in, always coming back with the most fascinating specimens of nature.
Bob is survived by the joy of his life, his daughter, Carly; his parents; his twin brother, Bill; his sister, Allison; his two nieces; and three nephews.
Bob also is survived by the love of his life, his fianceé, Stephanie Sturgeon and her three children that he loved as his own, Kyle, Sean and Alyssa; and his feline companion, Mr. Squiggles.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Helen McLoskey and William and Louise Davis; his aunt, Helen Citizen; and uncle Gary Bentley.
Memorial calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 1, 2012, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 4996 Market St., Boardman, Ohio.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Robert G. McLoskey Benefit Fund, at any local Farmers National Bank.
