STRUTHERS – Robert L. McLaughlin, 70, cherished and reared by Gene McCammon and fraternal aunt, Jean McLaughlin McCammon, died Sunday, Nov. 26, at his home of a heart attack.
Bobby was born July 27, 1947, in Youngstown.
He attended Poland Seminary High School before going in the U.S. Marine Corps. He received a Purple Heart in Vietnam.
Bobby was a pastry chef and baker, retired from The Point at South Mountain Resort in Phoenix. On returning to Youngstown, he was employed by Struthers Sharpening. Bobby enjoyed cooking, gambling, history, and collecting Indian artifacts. He was very proud of being a Marine and his Irish heritage.
Survivors are his aunt, Jean McCammon of Youngstown; three sisters, Mary Ann (Ernie) Valley of Struthers, Kate (Tom) Connolly of Struthers, and Jeri Westover of Poland; and his beloved dog, Gentle.
He was preceded in death by Uncle Gene.
A celebration of Bobby’s life will be held Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, from noon to 3 p.m. at Struthers AMVETS Post 44, 305 Elm St, where he was a member.
Arrangements are being handled by the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in c/o Becker Funeral Homes, 11 Spring St., Struthers, OH 44471, to defray funeral costs.
