YOUNGSTOWN - Robert F. Kelly, 90 of Brownlee Woods, died Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at the Ron Joy Nursing Home.
Mr. Kelly was born August 15, 1919 in Struthers, a son of James and Anna Barker Kelly and was a life long area resident.
He was a life member of the Elks Lodge #55 and Past Commander of American Legion of Post #732. He worked at Idora Park for six years in the 1930's. He retired from Republic Steel Transportation Department, where he worked as a brakeman for 30 years retiring in 1970. He has been a part time memorial counselor for the Daily Monument Company since 1949. He was a mausoleum counselor and area representative with Acme Marble and Granite Company, a division of Stewart Enterprises of New Orleans, La, for a number of years. He also worked for cemeteries as a mausoleum advisor. He served his country in the Army Air Force as a T/Sgt for four years in WWII.
He is survived by his former wife, Ruby Kelly Pause of St. Petersburg, FL a son, Richard (Kathee) Kelly of Saint Petersburg, FL; 5 grandsons, Ryan (Allison) Kelly of Columbus, Barry (Christina) Kelly of Columbus, Jason (Jessica) Kelly of Mineral Ridge, Christopher Kelly of Youngstown, and Patrick Kelly of Columbus; three great-grandchildren, William Kelly, Maren Kelly, Bryan Kelly; one sister, Alice Carter of Green Valley, Ariz.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, R. James Kelly, a sister, Jean Kelly, two brothers, William and John Kelly and one Great-Grandchild, Brandon Kelly.
Friends will be received 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers, where funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Joseph Lantini officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.
