Canfield - Robert Ferguson, 88, formerly of Poland, died Sunday, September 4, 2011 at the Hospice House.
Mr. Ferguson was born August 25, 1923 in Struthers, a son of Thomas and Harriet Moss Ferguson.
He was a 1942 graduate of Struthers High School. Mr. Ferguson worked as a craneman for Youngstown Sheet & Tube, retiring in 1978. He was a United States Navy veteran serving during World War II. In his spare time, he enjoyed working outside and gardening.
His wife, the former Mary R. Hoffman, whom he married October 23, 1946, died November 11, 1995. He leaves his son, Robert (Maryjo) Ferguson of Canfield; two grandchildren, Robert (fiancée, Sarah Melone) Ferguson II of Columbus and Faith (Kyle) Ferguson Terreri of Youngstown; and a great-grandchild, Elyse Marie Terreri.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Nellie Holmberg, Emma McKnight, Harriet Godward, Laurabelle Orf, and Sara Nemie.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland. Interment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
