Struthers- Robert Edward Davis, 93, passed on to his home in heaven on July 23, 2016.
Mr. Davis was born June 29, 1923 in Youngstown, a son of David and Marion Camp Davis.
He spent his childhood on the Youngstown Southside graduating from
South High School in 1942. Upon graduating he began a 43 year career with Youngstown Sheet and Tube, where he started as an apprentice machinist and retired in 1985 as a General Supervisor of many departments. Robert served our country as a Staff Sergeant 414th Armored Field Artillery Battalion 20th Armored Division serving in Europe under Gen. Geo. Patton from 1943-1946.
He was an avid golfer and was a member of Fonderlac and Seven Oaks. Most recently he one of the founding members of Salem Hills and was Past President for several years.
He is survived by his wife the former, Betty J. DeLauter, whom he married on Sept. 5, 1944; four children; Sandra (Bill) Stanley of Struthers, William (Denise) Davis of Poland, Robert (Carol) Davis of Texas, and Mark Davis of Struthers; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Robert was preceded in death by one son, James Davis; and one sister, Jean Comerford.
Services will be held at Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11Spring St., Struthers, Wednesday at 1:00 PM with Pastor Jere Beulah officiating. Friends and family will be received prior to service from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM.
