Melbourne, Florida- Robert David (Bob) Birmingham, 75, died Sunday, March 5, 2017 in Vitas Hospice Care in Merritt Island, FL after a short illness.
Bob was born August 17, 1941 in Youngstown, Ohio a son of James and Lucille (Huckle) Birmingham.
He attended Struthers High School and spent 10 years as a Conductor on the B&O Railroad where he served as Local Chairman of the Union until an injury placed him on disability.
In the mid-1970s, for four years, he lived on a 32’ Chris-Craft at Twin Palms Marina on Captiva Island, Florida recovering and enjoying the island lifestyle. He eventually returned to Ohio in 1978 to help raise his son.
In the 1980’s he worked for Commercial Piping of Youngstown and after relocating to Florida in 1996 he worked with his brother, Charles Reed, at Reed Equipment Company selling and installing insulated piping throughout the east coast of Florida.
His last position, which he dearly loved was as a Greeter at the Sam's Club in Melbourne.
He leaves his son, Bradley and daughter-in-law, Brynette Birmingham of Mantua, Ohio; Bradley’s mother and Bob’s former wife, Barbara Donchess of Struthers, and many extended family and friends whom he loved dearly.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his sister, Pauline Kahn and brothers, Jack
Birmingham and Charles Reed.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers with Pastor Joshua Allen officiating. Friends will be received Saturday from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
