CANFIELD - Rita Kathryn Mauch, passed peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2014, at the age of 86, or 21 in leap year birthdays.
Rita was born on leap year day, Feb. 29, 1928, in McKeesport, Pa., a daughter of Albert and Alice Hilbert Gessner.
She married Daniel Louis Mauch on June 22, 1946, in Youngstown, and they spent 62 years together before his passing in October of 2008.
Rita had worked at JC Penney's in downtown Youngstown, as well as Strouss Department Store in Boardman. Rita was a volunteer with the American Red Cross, as well as a member of the YMCA. She enjoyed bowling in leagues at the Colonial Lanes in Canfield, attending Silver Sneakers at the Ursuline Motherhouse, and her many card clubs, most recently at St. Charles, Hunter's Woods and Shepherd of the Valley in Poland.
Rita is survived by her granddaughter, Tracie Yarrison and her husband, John of Berlin Center; her grandson, Richard Mauch Jr. and his wife, Erin and their sons, Wilson and Theodore of Shaker Heights.
Besides her parents and husband, Rita was preceded in death by her four brothers, George, Robert, Jim and Ron; and her son, Richard Mauch Sr., who recently passed unexpectedly on April 5, 2014.
Per Rita's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.

The family would like to thank Dr. Shannon McNally for her caring and compassion for Rita the last few years, and also Hospice of the Valley, especially the staff at the Hospice House for their genuine concern and care recently for Rita.
