Youngstown - Richard J. Rogers, 71, of Youngstown, passed away at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital on January 5, 2022.
He was born in Youngstown on Jan. 17, 1950, a son of Martha Jane (Lightbody) and John G. Rogers II. He was a lifelong area resident.
Richard graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1968 and worked as a machinist at Wean United and Truscon before working at Gottschall Tool & Die until his retirement. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, which he attended with his children throughout their childhood.
Together with his brothers, he for several years, co-owned The Stadium sports bar on South Avenue, and also together with his brothers, coached his son and nephews when they played football for the Canfield Little Cardinals.
In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his siblings, Debbie Rogers, Don Rogers and Judy Rogers. He is survived by his children, Tara Schumacher (Chris) of Columbus, Ohio, Onalee White (Dave) of Austintown and Rich Rogers Jr. (Jamie) of Canfield; his brothers, Jack Rogers of Youngstown and Tom Rogers of Austintown; and six grandchildren.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Rich’s passing consider making a donation to their favorite charity or non-profit organization.
