Richard Andrew Zetts, 64
POLAND - Richard Andrew Zetts, 64, died Oct. 9, 2013, at Assumption Village after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Zetts was born Oct. 13, 1948, in Youngstown, a son of Andrew and Dolores Baluck Zetts.
A 1966 Struthers High School graduate, Rich went on to receive a Bachelors of Science Degree from Youngstown State University. He continued his education at Westminster and received his Master's Degree at Youngstown State University in Education. He taught Anatomy, Science, and Biology at Austintown Fitch High School, before retiring in 1999. He also coached football during his tenure there.
Rich served in the National Guard in Akron and Youngstown Units.
He was a devout Catholic, and he was a member of the Holy Family Church. Rich was an avid Notre Dame fan and was a model train enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife, the former Beverly Skurich, whom he married Aug., 29, 1970; three daughters, Shannon Zetts of Poland, Erin (Scott) Moore of Columbus, and Lauren Zetts of Pittsburgh; one sister, Sharyn (Rich) Cisek of Boardman; three brothers, Gary (Diana) Zetts of New Middletown, Tom (Jackie) Zetts of Boardman, and Bob (Debbie) Zetts of Struthers; one grandson, Cameron Moore; aunts, Rosemary Bruno of Reading, Pa., Bettyann Andresen of Reading, and Mary Al Baluck of Struthers; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by both his parents.
A prayer service will be held Saturday at 9:15 a.m. at the new Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Holy Family Church at 10 a.m. with Msgr. William J. Connell officiating.
Entombment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
