Richard W. Slaven

Struthers - Richard W. Slaven Sr., 67, died October 8, 2016 at Hospice of the Valley, Hospice House.
Mr. Slaven was born August 17, 1949 in Youngstown, a son of Roy and Jeanette Butterfield Slaven.
He attended Struthers High School and worked in the Steel Mills and was a automotive bodyman. Richard was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing at local lakes and hunting. He also loved camping and making breakfast over the campfire.
He is survived by two sons, Richard W. Slaven, Jr. of Boardman and Brian Slaven of Niles; three daughters, Kerri Davis of Demascus, MD, Heather (Dave) Farrar of Struthers, and Amy (Bill) Cartwright of Bessemer, PA; one brother, Roy "Bill" Slaven of New Springfield; one sister, Carol Farrar of Struthers; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Tom Slaven.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 6:00PM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St., Struthers.
Friends and family will be received Thursday from 5:00-5:45PM at the funeral home.
