Richard S. Shipley, Sr., 75 Poland - Richard S. Shipley, Sr., 75, of 2262 Belair Lane, Poland died early Wednesday morning at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. Mr. Shipley was born January 5, 1928 in South Connellsville, Pennsylvania a son of James and Pearl Linderman Shipley. He moved to Poland from Struthers in 1957. He was a 1946 graduate of Struthers High School and then served in the United States Army. He was employed at the Youngstown Sheet & Tube and then LTV for over 42 years retiring in 1988 as lubrication superintendent. He was an active member of the Poland Village Baptist Church, serving as usher, deacon and assisting with custodial work. He was an avid bowler. His wife the former Laura Peirce whom he married April 26, 1948 died November 4, 2000. He leaves one daughter Linda (Robert) Stewart of Petal, Mississippi; two sons, Richard (Marlene) Shipley, Jr. and Larry (Mary Louise) Shipley both of Struthers; one sister, Jeanetta Eisenbraun of Struthers; one brother, Tracy Shipley of New Middletown; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday, 10:00 AM at the Poland Village Baptist Church. Friends may call Friday from 5-8 PM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers and from 9:15 until 9:45 AM on Saturday in church.
