Richard Ernest Navarra

Lowellville - Richard Ernest Navarra, 59, of Lowellville, died Wednesday evening, November 19, 2014 at Hospice of the Valley, Hospice House.

Richard affectionately known as Dickie was born January 13, 1955 in New Castle, PA, a son of the late William and Josephine Coss Navarra.

A life-long resident of Lowellville, Dickie was a 1973 graduate of Lowellville High School. After graduation he worked for Youngstown Sheet & Tube and then Republic Steel until 1983. A member of Teamster Local 377, Dickie worked as a truck driver for several concrete companies, Rohrer Builders Supply, later DW Dickey & Sons, and then RW Sidley Inc., all located at the same location on Meridian Road. In 1999 he worked at City Concrete in Youngstown and in 2000 he went to work for GS Canfield Equipment, later Canfield New Holland, and finally Miner's Tractor Sales Inc., all at the same Canfield location.

Dickie was an avid Pittsburgh sport fan, the Steelers, Pirates, and especially the Penguins. He also enjoyed NASCAR. Dickie was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville.

Richard leaves his brother, William (Verne) Navarra; niece, Lori (Joseph) Diorio; and nephew, William Navarra all of Poland.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, 2:00 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral home, Lowellville with Fr. John Jerek officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Lowellville.

Friends will be received Saturday from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.

His family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dickie's friends who helped support him through his illness, Jim Iudiciani, Dominic Perry, and Ernie Smith. Dickie's family and friends would also like to thank Steve and Tracey Miner and daughter Nicole Donavon for their compassion and friendship for Dickie at Miner's Tractor. And also to Dr. Amy Awaida from the Hope Center and Sally Naples and the staff at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House for their special care.
