Richard Edward Lenz

Richard Edward Lenz, 89, of Reedsville, PA, died Friday at Geisinger- Lewistown Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Youngstown, August 1, 1925, he was the son of Helen (Maust) Lenz and Edward Louis Lenz.
He lived in Niles, Ohio, for 40 years before moving this year to live with his daughter in Reedsville.
Mr. Lenz graduated from Boardman High School in 1943. He also attended Youngstown State University enrolled in business classes.
During World War II, Mr. Lenz was stationed at Langley Field Air Base, Air Force Division, where he worked as a Tabulating Machine Operator. He earned the American Theater Victory Medal and was honorably discharged in 1946.
For 37 years, Mr. Lenz was a System Analyst for Republic Steel Corporation and for 10 years as a consultant to Sharon Steel Corporation. He retired in 1994.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Struthers, Ohio, where he served faithfully as Secretary and Trustee. In addition, Mr. Lenz was a member of the Northside-Struthers Club, Silver Sneakers, and past member of a dance club.
Mr. Lenz enjoyed cookouts on the back porch with friends and family, NASCAR cheering on Jimmy Johnson, football, walks, reading and working on daily word searches.
Survivors include his wife, Velma Mae Grant Lenz, whom he married May 26, 1951; a daughter, Deborah Lee Lenz of Reedsville, Pa.; a daughter, Linda J. Honda of Reedsville, Pa.; two sisters, Marian Snavely of Canfield and Jean Conrad of Douglasville, Ga.; and nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman.
Family and friends will be received on Friday from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday 10-10:45AM at the funeral home.
