Struthers - Richard Paul Kuspan, 82, of Struthers, died Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at his residence with his loving family by his side.
Mr. Kuspan was born September 1, 1927 in Struthers, a son of Joseph and Cecelia Kuspan, and was a life long area resident.
He was a 1945 graduate of Struthers High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in WWII and received the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Kuspan also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and received the Korean Service Medal and the United Nation Service Medal. He worked as an electrician for Cold Metal Products for over 20 years, retiring in 1993.
He was a member of the St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church and the Struthers VFW Post No. 3538. He enjoyed fishing, his home projects, remodeling, and vacationing, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family who loved him deeply. Although he was a quiet man, his gentle spirit and kind, generous heart was experienced by all who knew him.
His wife, the former Eileen Joseph, whom he married April 14, 1951, died February 12, 1993.
Mr. Kuspan leaves his daughter, Cindy (Nick) Holik of Poland; two grandchildren, Robert J. Pachner Jr. (fiancée Linda) of Brookfield and Melissa Tyger of Lowellville; six great-grandchildren, Nicolas, Stephen, Deborah and Isabella Cavicchi, all of Lowellville, Amber and Josh Summerfield of Brookfield; and dear friend, Shirley Boulton.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Debbie Kuspan; two brothers, Fred and Joe Kuspan; and two sisters, Cecelia Agee and Ann Marie Shields.
Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Bob Bonnot officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers, where prayers will be said Monday at 10:15 a.m.
