Johnstown - Richard "Dick" E. Kerr, Jr., 55, of Johnstown, CO, died Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Poudre Valley Hospital in Colorado. Dick was born October 7, 1952 in New Castle, PA, the son of Richard and Nancy Jane McKinley Kerr, Sr. Dick was a 1970 graduate of Mohawk High School and attended Youngstown State University. Dick worked as a conductor and engineer for the last 28 years for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway. He was a member of the American Legion, the National Rifle Association, United Transportation Worker's Union, and the AARP. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, camping, and fishing throughout the United States. He was of Protestant faith and in his younger years was a member of the Moravia Presbyterian Church in Wampum, PA. Dick was a United States Army Veteran. He leaves his mother of Boardman, his son, Ian Kerr of Denver, Colorado; his daughter, Shannon (Wayne Hetrick) Kerr of Bessemer, Pennsylvania; three sisters, Lynn (Robert) Cozzo of Poland, Sharon (Vince) Richardson of Liberty, and Diane (Mark) Duda of New Castle, Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Helen McKinley; and his paternal grandparents, Howard and Mary Kerr. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland with Pastor Rusty Wills officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Jackson Presbyterian Cemetery, New Castle. Friends will be received Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. and Thursday from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
