Boardman - Richard T. Janis, 64, died December 21, 2013 at Essex of Salem .
Mr.Janis was born June 3, 1949 in Youngstown, son of Edward and Mary Zagorsky Janis.
He was a South High School graduate and was an extrusion supervisor for Zarbana, LP, and American Weather Seal, retiring in 2010. Rich was a member of Evangel Baptist Church in Boardman. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during Vietnam. He loved fishing, bowling, playing cards, swimming, trains, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, the former Debi Chuck, whom he married, Aug.13, 1977; one daughter, Jennifer Janis of Boardman; a son, Jason (Heidi) Janis of Canfield; four sisters, Mary Byers of Girard, Gloria (Ralph) Sanchez of Florida, Barbara Burrows of Hubbard, Georgeann Foltz of Boardman; two brothers, Ed (Ella) Janis of Georgia and George (Donna) Janis of Cornersburg; three grandchildren,Mason, Madison, and Hailey; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a sister, Jean "Sis" Boehnlein.
A memorial service will be held at the new Davis-Becker Funeral Home, Boardman, Friday at 6:00 PM, with military honors.
Friends and family will be received Friday from 5-5:45PM.
