Richard L. Harris, 71 Poland- Richard L. Harris, 71, of Fieldstone Drive, formerly of Pittsburgh, died Tuesday evening at the Cleveland Clinic. Mr. Harris was born June 16, 1933 in New Philadelphia, Ohio, a son of Howard and Mae Kreiter Harris. He was a 1951 graduate of McKeesport High School and received his electrical engineering degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1956. He was an engineer for Goodrich Gulf in West Virginia, Celanese Corporation in Maryland, and retired from Bayer Corporation in Pittsburgh in 2003. Mr. Harris enjoyed photography and beer making. Nine years ago he moved to this area to be closer to Lake Erie where he enjoyed fishing for Walleye and recently became interested in fly fishing. But most importantly, he enjoyed his family and spending time with his three granddaughters. Besides his wife, the former Dorothy Pearson whom he married June 15, 1956 he leaves one daughter, Elayne Mills of Hickory, North Carolina; a son and daughter-in-law Richard and Patricia Harris of Triadelphia, West Virginia; two brothers, Harlan Harris of San Diego, California, Wayne Harris of Oakmont, Pennsylvania, and three granddaughters, Megan, Katherine and Sarah Mills. Besides his parents, one brother, Robert Harris preceded him in death. A private memorial service will be held Friday at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland.
