Struthers - Raymond H. Wolfe, 90, of Struthers, died peacefully Wednesday evening at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center.
Ray was born August 19, 1922 in Youngstown, a son of Karl and Velia Maturo Wolfe. He lived in Youngstown until moving to Struthers in 1959.
Ray attended East High School until the 11th grade and left to support his mother by working at the Ravenna Arsenal. He later worked at the Youngstown Sheet & Tube and retired as a crane operator in 1978.
For four years Ray proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II , and was aboard the LST 512 during the Normandy Invasion on "D" Day.
Ray was a automobile enthusiast and enjoyed bowling. He was a member of the Youngstown Grinding Bowling Team at Gran Lanes, the Camelot Lanes Sunday Night Family Affair, and later was an avid Wii bowler at the Greenbrier Assisted Living.
Most important to Ray was his family. His life was centered around his wife, children and especially his grandchildren. He adored them and enjoyed attending all of their sporting and extracurricular activities, picking them up from school and just spending time with them.
Ray leaves his wife of 66 years, the former Carmen Cora, whom he married May 18, 1946; three sons, Raymond (Karen) Wolfe Jr. of Lowellville, Randy Wolfe of Poland, and Mickey (Lynette) Wolfe of Struthers; ten grandchildren, Kelly, Kristy, Celina, Stephen, John, Falyn, Abbey, Randy Jr., Ashley and Matt; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Ray was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Myers and Eleanor Evans.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 11:00 AM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers with Pastor Dan Yargo officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Park Cemetery.
Friends will be received Sunday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the funeral home.
