Raymond F. Strahley, 82, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Briarfield Nursing Home following an extended illness. He was born in Youngstown on October 5, 1933 to the late, Raymond Sr and Bessie (Sahli) Strahley and was a graduate of South High School.
Ray was employed at Western Electric and later AT&T Telephone Company. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1953-1956. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, where he also served as a deacon. Ray was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles of Youngstown, Mahoning Valley Umpires Association and volunteered his time at the Youngstown Playhouse and Meals on Wheels. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Cleveland Browns.
He leaves his son Raymond (Carrie) Strahley; daughter, Kristen (Duane) Lombard; grandchildren, Austin, Kaden, Ian, Chase and Hunter; sisters, Arlene Strahley and Betty Strahley-Gollner; his cousin, Judi (Ray) Nussbaumer-Hanne; nephew, Bradley Gollner; niece, Jill (David) Gollner-Bliss; his former wife, Darlyne Strahley and his companion of 17 years, Marge Allen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lena Strahley and brother-in-law, Rudy Gollner.
In honoring his wishes, Ray will be cremated and memorial services will be Friday at 7pm at Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St. Boardman. Visitation will be prior to the service from 5-6:45pm on Friday in the funeral home.
