Struthers - Raymond John Brayer, 74, of Struthers, died Sunday, December 23, 2007 at the Hospice House. Mr. Brayer was born March 13, 1933 in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of Raymond and Georgetta Scherle Brayer. A 1951 graduate of Shaler High School, Mr. Brayer worked as a plant supervisor at United Engineering in Pittsburgh and as a chief expeditor and purchasing agent for Wean United in Youngstown, retiring in 1995. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving during the Korean War as a deep sea diver. Mr. Brayer was a member of the Holy Family Church in Poland, the Etna Elks in Pittsburgh, and the Poland Kiwanis Club, where he was President from 1988-1990. His biggest joy was spending time with his family. He also enjoyed golfing, taking cruises with his wife, and was an avid reader. His wife, the former Coralie Fullerton, whom he married December 27, 1952, preceded him in death on July 16, 2006. He leaves two daughters, Lou Ann (Gary) Brindle of Pittsburgh and Georgine (Daniel) Ruff of Cleveland; four sons, William (Jo Ellen) Brayer of Gaithersburg, MD, Jeffrey (Tamra) Brayer of Houston, TX, Raymond (Shari) Brayer of Franklin, TN, and John (Sherry) Brayer of Youngstown; 20 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 4 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland where family and friends will be received from 1-3:45 p.m. prior to the service. Please visit
