Raymond D. Boyer

Boardman - Raymond D. Boyer, 82, of Boardman, died Thursday evening at Hospice of the Valley, Hospice House.

Ray was born March 4, 1930 in Cumberland, MD, a son of Samuel and Edna Johnson Boyer. In the early 1940's Ray and his family moved to this area.

A 1948 graduate of South High School, Ray attended Youngstown State and Kent State Universities. Ray began his career at Peoples Bank and after 30 years he retired as Regional Vice President for Society Bank in 1985. After retirement, Ray went on to work for Men-Guer Motors in Struthers and Store Systems in Youngstown. Ray's passion was antique cars and he was a member of Nash Car Club of America - Oh-Penn Region. He also enjoyed antiquing and flea markets. Ray attended Zion Lutheran Church.

Ray leaves his wife of 50 years, the former Beverly Bowen, whom he married June 16, 1962; two sons, Keith (Carrie) Boyer of Boardman and Brian (Michele) Boyer of Youngstown; three sister-in-laws, Bonnie (Anthony) Perratto of Dover, DE, Betty (Leonard) Panella of Port Saint Lucie, FL, and Barbara Tate of Richardson, TX; one brother-in-law, Richard (Phyllis) Bowen of Canfield; five grandchildren, Allie Boyer of Boardman, Ashley and Lauren Boyer of Olympia, WA, and Ainsley and Kilian Boyer, of Youngstown.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday July 7th at 12:00 Noon at the Zion Lutheran Church in New Middletown with Rev. Larry Klinker officiating. Friends will be received Saturday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at the church.

At Ray's request there are no calling hours. A private graveside service for the family was held at the Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown.

The family request memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Zion Lutheran Church, 10857 Main Street, New Middletown, OH 44442.

Arrangements are being handled by the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland.
