Poland - Raymond J. "Tip" Boila, 63 of Poland, Ohio, died Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Boardman.
Mr. Boila was born May 10, 1946 in Youngstown, a son of John and Mary Parvu Boila, and was a life long area resident.
He was a 1965 graduate of the South High School and was a member of the St. Mary's Romanian Catholic Church. Mr. Boila worked for the US Steel McDonald works, in the 18 hot mill as a hot bander from 1966 to1982. He also worked at Aluminum Color in Lowellville from 1985 to 2001 was a machine operator and union representive. He was an avid Ohio State, Cleveland Browns and Cavaliers fan, and was a member of the UAW.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years the former Shannon Pennell, whom he married April 28, 1973, one son, Raymond J. (Jackie) Boila Jr. of Struthers, one grandson, Vincent Boila of Struthers one brother, John Boila Jr. of Youngstown, a sister-in-law, Sandy Beckwith of Poland; two neices, Kerrie (Scott) Wilson of Austintown and Heidi (Jason) Smith of Boardman; three great-nephews Jacob Smith, Tyler Smith, Benjamin Wilson ; dear friends, Larry (Sandi) Tusinac of Poland and Jimmy (Lucille) Matasic of Poland and his beloved dog, Honey.
Besides his parents, he was proceeded in death by his father and mother-in-law Ray and June Pennell, and brother-in-law David Beckwith
The Boila family would like to thank Dr. John Popovec and the wonderful staff of the Intensive Care Unit at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Boardman for all of their great care given to him.
Family and friends will be received Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland where prayers will be said Saturday morning at 9:30 am. where friends will also be recieved from 9:00 to 9:30 am.
Funeral mass will be held Saturday at 10:30 am at the St. Mary's Romanian Catholic Church 7782 Glenwood Avenue in Boardman, with Father George D. Gage officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Boila's name to Hospice House 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland OH 44514.
