Poland - Ray (Skip) Fenton Linebaugh, 81, of Poland, died suddenly Thursday morning, February 11, 2016 at his residence.
Ray, affectionately known as Skip, was born September 30, 1934 in Struthers, a son of the late Ralph and Lucy Haines Linebaugh.
Raised in Youngstown, Skip was a 1952 graduate of South High School. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Youngstown State University and his Masters from Westminster College. Skip taught science at Austintown Middle School for 30 years. Prior to teaching, Skip worked as a crane operator for Youngstown Sheet & Tube.
Skip was very active in ministry throughout his life. He ministered at Pleasant Valley Church in Liberty for 25 years before serving as Associate Pastor at Victory Christian Center in Coitsville. He retired from that position in 2014. For over 35 years Skip was active in visitation ministry. In 1982 Youngstown Protestant Men named him Churchman of the year.
While raising his family, Skip coached midget football for Volney Rogers for 3 years. He was an avid fisherman, dedicated husband and father, and loyal to his faith and his God. Skip always had an uplifting spirit, infectious smile, and genuinely cared for anyone he came in contact with. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Skip leaves his wife of 61 years, the former Shirley Reedy, whom he married February 6, 1954; one daughter, Debra (Edgar) Havaich of Mineral Ridge; three sons, Mark Linebaugh of Springfield, VA, Todd (Diane) Linebaugh of Mineral Ridge, and Scott Linebaugh of Corpus Christi, TX; one daughter-in-law, Julie Zajack of McDonald; two sisters, Susan Linebaugh of Bradenton, FL, and Laura Linebaugh of Palmetto, FL; three brothers, Dale (Opal) Linebaugh of OK, Gary (Sue) Linebaugh of Crossville, TN, and Glenn (Patricia) Linebaugh of Dayton, TN; seven grandchildren, Amy Havaich of Virginia, Kimberly (Larry) Tremayne of Niles, Kristin Havaich of Niles, Rachel and Daniel Linebaugh of Mineral Ridge, and Sierra and Carson Schrader of McDonald; and four great-grandchildren, Dalton, Luke, Dylan, and Kylee Tremayne.
Besides his parents, Skip was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Palagyi and Janet Hinkson.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 5:00 PM Victory Christian Center with Bishop David L. Thomas officiating. Friends will be received Monday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Victory Christian Center, Lowellville,OH, 44436.
