Poland - Ralph F. Maze, 84, of Poland died Wednesday evening at his residence. Ralph was born August 14, 1922 in Struthers, a son of George and Mary Wiener Maze. He was a 1940 graduate of Struthers High School and received his Bachelor of Arts in Science from Youngstown State University in 1958. He worked as an Engineer for Ohio Bell Telephone Company for 29 years while living in Youngstown, North Canton and Cleveland until he moved to Florida in 1970. In Florida, he worked for Bell South for 12 years before retiring in 1982. He moved back to the area in 1991. Ralph was a life-long member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Struthers and a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps. serving in World War II as a Staff Sergeant. Ralph is survived by his loving wife, the former Dorothy Bond, whom he married August 14, 1953; one son, Doug Maze, and his wife, Susan, of Winston Salem, NC; one daughter, Cynthia Maze, of Plano, TX; one sister, Kathryn Frank, of Poland; and one granddaughter, Amber Maze, of Winston Salem, NC. Besides his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his brother, Victor Maze. Funeral services will be held Sunday, 2:30 PM at the Christ Lutheran Church in Struthers. Friends may call Saturday from 4-7 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland and Sunday from 1:30 PM until 2:15 PM at the church.
