Poland - Rachel Elizabeth McNicholas, 34, of Poland, died Wednesday evening, February 1, 2017 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh after a brief illness.

Rachel was born September 11, 1982 in New Castle, PA, a daughter of William and Deborah Jones McNicholas.

Rachel graduated from Poland Seminary High School in 2000. She worked at Party Max at the Shops at Boardman Park for over 12 years until its closing. She then worked at Target at the Shops at Boardman Park at Starbucks for over 3 years.

An animal lover, Rachel always surrounded herself with her dogs and she also enjoyed dog sitting for friends. She was an avid reader, enjoyed taking pictures, and watching her favorite TV shows, Blue Bloods, Shield, and Sons of Anarchy. A Pittsburgh Steeler fan, Rachel loved spending as much time as she could in Pittsburgh, dining out or shopping. Rachel was an all around good hearted person who loved to spend time with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Rachel leaves her father, William (Mary Ann) McNicholas of New Castle; her mother, Deborah Yavorsky, with whom she made her home; twin brother, Evan McNicholas also at home; sister, Emily Yavorsky of Butler, PA; uncles, Patrick McNicholas and Jeffrey McNicholas both of New Castle, PA, Edwin (Deborah) McNicholas of Herndon, VA, John Winwood of Cleveland, Joe (Karen) Winwood of Girard, and Chuck Winwood of Niles; aunts, Debra Bennett of Struthers, Carol (Tom) Nuttall and Cathy (Mark) Stanich all of Poland, Kim Luplow of Greenville, PA, Patti (Bob) Olesky of Youngstown, and Carol Winwood of Hubbard; grandmother, Judy Yavorsky of Port Orange, FL; and numerous cousins.

Rachel was preceded in death by her stepfather, Edward Yavorsky, who died January 18, 2017; grandparents, William and Lillian Worsen McNicholas, Alfred and Margaret Frazier Jones, and Joseph and Barbara Eyster Winwood; and her uncle, Michael Yavorsky.

Funeral services will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, with Pastor Michael Grant officiating. Rachel will be interred at Graceland Cemetery in New Castle.

Friends will be received Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
