Boardman - R. Fred Jones, 70, of Boardman, formerly of Everett Ave., died Wednesday, November 21, 2007 in Ron Joy Nursing Home. Mr. Jones was born February 16, 1937 in Youngstown, a son of Thomas and Blanche Parker Jones. A 1955 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Mr. Jones worked as a millwright for Youngstown Sheet and Tube, retiring after 17 years. Mr. Jones was a United States Marine Corps. Veteran and enjoyed woodworking, genealogy, and spending time with his family. He was a life-long member of the former Brownlee Woods United Presbyterian Church now known as the Heritage Presbyterian Church. Mr. Jones leaves his sister, Blanche Barnhizer of Poland; two brothers, Thomas (Emma) Jones of Struthers and James (Jane) Jones of McDonald; a brother-in-law, Robert Bradley of Austintown; two nieces, who were also his caregivers, Mary Anne Creatore of Boardman and Luanne Murray of McDonald; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Durbin and Mildred "Peg" Bradley. Funeral services will be held at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. where family and friends will be received from 12:45-1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mr. Jones' name to the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley, 962 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Youngstown, OH 44510.
