Poland- William J. Parsons, 84, of 6665 Clingan Rd., died Saturday morning at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Mr. Parsons was born April 10, 1918 in Poland, a son of Rutherford and Helen Hirt Parsons. He was a life-long area resident. He was a carpenter for over 35 years for various companies in the area including, K.H. Mitchell Construction, Yallech Lumber and Downie Construction. He retired in 1980. Prior to carpentry he had worked at the Youngstown Sheet and Tube. He was a member of the Poland Masonic Lodge No.766 F&AM and a 32nd Degree Mason of the Youngstown Valley of Scottish Rite. He was a member of the Poland United Methodist Church. His wife the former Leona Seifert whom he married February 23, 1940, died July 12, 1998. He leaves two daughters, Joan Luman of Youngstown and Deanna (Paul) Everly of Mountain Lake Park, Maryland; three sons, James (Margie) Parsons of Fairfield Glade, Tennessee, Richard (Kay) Parsons of Youngstown and Thomas (Leslie) Parsons of Jonesboro, Arkansas; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, one grandson, James Parsons and one sister Ruth Helsel preceded him in death. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, 11:00 AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland. Friends may call Tuesday, from 5-8PM at the funeral home where a Masonic service will be held at 8:00 PM.
