Poland- Pierce Doyle Kisselburg, 92, passed away Friday morning, August 9, 2019 at Hospice of the Valley, Hospice House.
Pierce, affectionately known by his middle name Doyle, was born November 28, 1926 in Detroit, MI, a son of Luther and Bertha Newton Kisselburg. He was raised in Murphy, North Carolina and after his military duty made his home in Struthers until moving to Poland in 1955.
In November 1945 Doyle enlisted in the U. S. Army serving in World War II. He was honorably discharged in November of 1946.
A welder by trade, Doyle worked for the Youngstown Sheet & Tube until its closing in 1977. He was a charter member of the former Fairview Immanuel Baptist Church.
Doyle loved boating and enjoyed spending time at their trailer on the Allegheny River.
His wife, the former Kathryn Hixson, whom he married February 19, 1949, died January 9, 2004. He leaves two daughters, Nancy (Michael) Moschella of Boardman and Pam (Roger) Burns of Poland; four sisters, Betty, Doris, Alice, and Kathryn; one brother, Charles all of NC; five grandchildren, Todd (Eric Guzman) Moschella, Jason (Samantha) Moschella, Maribeth (Ryan) Goist, Carissa (Jeff) Knisley and Caryn Burns; and ten great-grandchildren, Haley Burns, Jeffrey Jr., Piper, Lilliann and Robyn Knisley, Kristen, Katelyn, and Jason Jr. Moschella, and Aryanna and Kyra Goist.
In addition to his parents and wife, Doyle was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Ralph.
A funeral service celebrating Doyle's life will be held Monday, 12:00 noon at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers with Pastor Randy Langham officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield with Military Honors.
Friends will be received Monday prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
