Phyllis Leon Whited, 92
BOARDMAN-Phyllis Leon Whited, 92, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, Sept. 23, 2014, at her home.
Mrs. Whited was born on Oct. 1, 1922, in Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of Geraldine Sitgreaves and George T. Williams.
She and her husband, Charles W. Whited were married, on Dec. 25, 1941, in Youngstown. They were blessed with 56 years of marriage together.
Phyllis was a devoted mother, loving wife, a dedicated homemaker and faithful member of her church. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing and reading, especially the Bible. She was a former member of the Youngstown Baptist Church and the Central Christian Church and a recent member of the Boardman Baptist Church.
She is survived by three sons, Edward "Ted" Whited (Cynthia) of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Gerald Whited, and Richard Whited of Boardman; and two sisters, Mrs. Lois Rowe of New Oxford, Pa., and Mrs. Joan Travis, of Ellenton, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Whited; an infant son, Charles; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Grimes; and two brothers, Edward (Ted) Williams, and Gerald "Tudor" Williams.
Phyllis was the grandmother of nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman, on Thursday at 11 a.m., where family and friends will be received from 10 to 10:45 a.m.
The family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Mrs. Phyllis Whited's name to the Boardman Baptist Church, 1207 Shields Road, Boardman, OH 44512.
