Struthers-Phyllis A. Slaven, 96, of Struthers, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025, at the Maplecrest Nursing Home in Struthers.
Born July 11, 1928, in Struthers, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Straley) Parker.
Phyllis was a 1947 graduate of Struthers High School. It was there that she met William. Together, they shared 63 years of marriage until his passing on May 18, 2016. In her younger years, Phyllis worked as a bookkeeper for Union National Bank. She then took on the role of being a loving mother and raising their three children.
She enjoyed reading, spending time with family and tending her flower garden. In the summer, she loved being outdoors on her patio, feeding the birds and squirrels.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Andrew) Popovich of Poland; two sons, William Slaven of Columbus, OH and David (Bridget) Slaven of Everett, WA; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, George Parker.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Jean Connell; and brother, Joseph Parker.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St. Struthers, Ohio 44471.
Burial will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
