Phyllis Petrella, 92, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, Saturday afternoon, November 28, 2020.
Phyllis was born September 9, 1928 in Erskine Quarry, PA, the daughter of the late James and Margaret Pagley Tamburino.
Raised in Lowellville, Phyllis was a graduate of Lowellville High School, Class of 1946 and later served on the committee for the 50th Class Reunion. She worked in the payroll department for Automatic Sprinkler, Chrysler Corporation and McKelvey's Department Store. In addition to her work, Phyllis also operated a family catering business, preparing many favorite Italian specialties for her customers, friends and family. When her daughters were young, Phyllis served as both Blue Bird and Camp Fire leader. In her spare time, Phyllis also enjoyed baking and crocheting.
Phyllis was an active member of St. Angela Merici, formerly Sacred Heart in Youngstown and Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Struthers. At Sacred Heart, she served on the Parish Council and assisted with the parish bulletin. At St. Nicholas, she volunteered her time working the fish fries and annual festivals.
Her husband Dominic, whom she married May 20, 1950, died September 11, 2014. She leaves two daughters, Yvonne Petrella of Oswego, NY and Eva (Paul) Gucwa of Struthers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by her brother, Anthony Tamburino.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, 10:00 a.m. at St Angela Merici with Fr. Kevin Peters officiating. Interment was at the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Lowellville.
