Philomena Anita Zitella

March 1, 1925 — February 6, 2015

Struthers - Philomena Anita Zitella, 89, of Struthers, died February 6, 2015 at the Hospice House.

Mrs. Zitella was born March 1, 1925 in Youngstown, a daughter of Samuel and Marion Ross Peachock.

She was a 1943 graduate of The Rayen School. Philomena was an Assistant Manager at Isaly's in Struthers and later went on to work at Hills Department Store in Boardman. She was a long time member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Struthers.
She enjoyed cooking, mainly Italian food, and she made the best wedding soup. Her favorite past times where playing bingo, traveling, dancing, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond, whom she married June 14, 1947 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Basilica; a daughter, Debbie Zitella of Boardman; a son, Raymond Walter (Norman) Zitella Jr. of San Diego; two grandchildren, Daniel Stuart (Jennifer Watters) Hagg of Portland, OR and Leslie Lynn (Scott) Seidel of North Royalton; six great-grandchildren, Braeden Binger, Annalisa Hagg, Axel Stephen Hagg, Liesel Seidel, Arianna Hagg, and Sesilie Seidel.

Besides her parents, Philomena was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Mastropietro.

A prayer service will be held Tuesday at 9:15AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St.,Poland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
