STRUTHERS - Philip P. Marsolo, 89, of Struthers, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Poland.
He was born January 28, 1922 in Pacentro, Italy, a son of John and Concetta Marsolo. He moved to the United States in 1937.
Mr. Marsolo served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II, following his return home, he worked as a machinist for Youngstown Sheet and Tube for over 40 years, retiring in 1982.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers. Mr. Marsolo enjoyed gardening, golfing and spending time with his family. Following his retirement, until his illness, he would meet his former co-workers for a weekly breakfast.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, the former Laura Ceci, whom me married July 19, 1947; a daughter, Beverly (Charles) Wright of Poland; two sons Philip (Donna) Marsolo of Austintown and David (Pat) Marsolo of Columbus; a sister, Laura Lucci of Pacentro, Italy; six grandchildren, Chuck (Billie Jo) Wright of Poland, Kim (Brian) Pennell of Columbus, Tracy Marsolo of Austintown, Jeffrey Marsolo of Austintown, Keith Marsolo of Cinncinnati, and Mike (Lindsay) Marsolo of Columbus; and seven great-grandchildren, Chuckie Wright, Kylie Wright, Alyssa Pennell, Danny Pennell, Sami Pennell, Cameron Marsolo and Fletcher Marsolo.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Nicola Marsolo; and a sister, Josephine Lepore.
Family and friends will be received Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Davidson Becker Funeral Home in Struthers, where a prayer service will be at 12:15 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers with Rev. Bernard Bonnot officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.
