Peter P. Ceplice, 88 Poland- Peter P. Ceplice, 88, of Poland, died Tuesday morning at St. Elizabeth Hospital after an short illness. Mr. Ceplice was born July 4, 1914 in Struthers, a son of the late Andrew and Mary Orinchak Ceplice. He was a 1931 graduate of Struthers High School and attended both Youngstown College and Fenn College in Cleveland, was a lifelong area resident. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps as a flyer where he flew 80 combat missions for the 5th Airforce. Mr. Ceplice served in the Pacific Theater, as part of the 531st Bomb Squadron. He was awarded 2 Bronze Stars, the Philippine Liberation Medal, and the Army Airforce Air Medal for action in the Luzon and New Guinea Theater. He worked for the U.S. Vitamin and Pharmaceutical Corporation as a medical representative before retiring in 1979, after may years of service. Mr. Ceplice was a member of the Infant Jesus of Prague Byzantine Catholic Church. A Former member of the Struthers VFW Post #7538, where he served as both Post Commander and Quartermaster; the Struthers American Legion Post # 158, where he served as county Commander, the Struthers Athletic Club, where he supported many of the youth activities. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, where he bowled for various leagues. He leaves two sons: Philip of Struthers; and Thomas and his wife Verla of Zanesville; a granddaughter: Karissa K. Ceplice-Polon and her husband (Borys) of Dundee, NY; two grandsons: Philip A. Ceplice of Chicago, IL, Nicholas J. Ceplice of Struthers; and three great grandchildren: Danielle Ceplice; Helena and Joseph Polon. He is preceded in death by his wife the former Emma W. Wolfe, whom he married May 15, 1937, and who died March 10, 2002; a sister: Mary Joseph; and five brothers: Michael; Andrew; John; Stephen; Joseph. Funeral Services will be Friday, 10:15 AM, at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers, and 11AM at the Infant Jesus of Prague Byzantine Catholic Church. Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home where a parastas memorial service will be held at 7:30 PM.
