Paul "Scooter" Trgovac, 53, passed away on the evening of Thursday March 4, after a hard battle with a sudden illness.
Friends of Paul and Family may call Sunday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Scooter was born June 30, 1956, the son of Paul Trgovac, Elizabeth Martin and Robert "Pepper" Martin.
Scooter graduated from Austintown Fitch High School in 1974. He later went on to marry the love of his life and woman he adored and cherished Joan (Martinez) Trgovac on May 26 1979. The two resided in Youngstown. Together they were an example of how you make a marriage work. Through sickness, health, rough, and happy times they always pushed on, teaching their children what staying committed meant.
Scooter was a well known area bowler in the early and late eighties, and also won The Warren Master's in 1982.
Not many people get to say they truly enjoy their job, however, Scooter was an exception to this rule. After completing an Associate's Degree in Accounting from Trumbull Business College, he went on to use his love of sports and numbers together. For the past fourteen years he worked as a Free Lance Statistician, and TV Broadcaster, for many well known sports networks. Scooter also worked sporadically as a Free Lance writer for The Youngstown Vindicator. Before his Career called him to travel, many knew him as The Voice of the Campbell Memorial Red Devils, with his trademark "It's Football/Basketball time in Campbell". He also worked as the statistician for The Red Devils Football, and boys' and girls' Basketball teams, before passing on the torch to his daughter. He also spent many days and nights during the spring and summer months at Bob Cene Park, taking score and stats for Class B and little B baseball along side his sons.
Scooter truly epitomized the phrase "Sports Fanatic". His children often joke that their dad could watch eight different sports shows, on one TV, without missing a single minute of action. His love for sports was passed on to his children who have each followed in his foot steps one way or another. His love of bowling will live on through his sons. He always rooted for the underdog and any local high school team in the playoffs. He loved to see the success of area athletes and boasted full of pride whenever he would see their accomplishments on television.
In his spare time Scooter enjoyed caring for his two young grandchildren. He would often baby sit them at his residence so that his daughter could work without placing her children in daycare. Scooter was a kind, gentle, man with a love for animals. He adored his family, and taught is children about hard work and always, finding a way to provide. His children never felt without anything growing up. His favorite teams were The Cleveland Indians, The Cleveland Cavaliers, and The "Old" Cleveland Browns. His second favorite baseball team was, "Whoever beat The Yankees that day".
Scooter leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, three biological children, and a son-in-law he loved as his own: Philip Trgovac(29) of Austintown, Roberta (Gary) Castor(28) of Struthers and Mark Trgovac(23) of Austintown, and his mother Elizabeth Martin of Struthers. He leaves his two beautiful grandchildren that were the apples of his eyes Gary Castor Jr.(4) and Cara Castor(21mos) both of Struthers. He also leaves behind many cousins, aunts, uncles and extended in laws.
Scooter was preceded in death by his Father Paul Trgovac, and his Dad Robert "Pepper" Martin.
