Boardman - Paul Arthur Thompson, 72, passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Mercy Health-St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
Paul was born January 8, 1950 in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of the late Paul and Sally (MacGuffin) Thompson.
He graduated from Boardman High School in 1968 and was a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley.
Paul served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
After his time in the service, Paul returned to the Youngstown area and was a steelworker for 45 years, working for Republic Steel in Youngstown, which became LTV, and later for WCI in Warren, before retiring in 2011.
Paul was a devote husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters Abigail and Emma.
Paul is survived by three children, Joseph L. Thompson of Las Vegas, NV, Tonya L. (Jared) Appel of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Christopher M. (Cynthia Heredy) Thompson of Youngstown, OH; two granddaughters, Abigail Hill and Emma Hill, both of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and a sister, Nancy (Terry) Brown of Hubbard, OH.
Besides his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Deborah M. Rossi; and two brothers.
Per Paul's request, there will be a memorial service celebrating his life at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market Street in Boardman.
