Warren - Paul Adam Thomas, 56, passed away at 7:20 a.m. Sunday morning at Horizon Village Nursing Center in Warren, Ohio after a long and courageous battle with liver cancer. Mr. Thomas was born October 27, 1952 in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of Paul and Mary Stolz Thomas, was raised in Boardman and was a resident of the Youngstown/Warren area for his entire adult life. Paul was a wonderful husband, sibling, uncle, and friend and will be missed by all who knew him. He was a 1970 graduate of Boardman High School, received a B.A. in Psychology from Youngstown State University in 1975, and attended St. Elizabethâa�a��s School of Nursing. He worked for the United States Postal Service. Paul was formerly a member of St. Columbaâa�a��s Cathedral and was an inspiration to the many lives he touched, despite a lifelong injury that left him paralyzed. He enjoyed current events, studying Russian, golfing, skiing, and playing chess. He was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan and enjoyed following sports scores of many teams, especially baseball. He always enjoyed a great meal, helping others in need, and especially looked forward to attending the Canfield Fair every summer. Paul is survived by his sister, Mary Garrett of Pensacola, Fl; nephew, Benjamin Garrett of New York City; his aunt, Cecelia (Dan) Burlon of Boardman; numerous cousins, including Father Jules Mayer of Commerce, CA; his loving former wife, Cynthia Cossack Braden of Stow, OH; special friends, Elva Easton of Boardman, whose late husband Paul Easton served as legal guardian for Mr. Thomas from May 23, 1986 until the time of his death in 2004, Larry and Becky (Easton) Wehr and their sons, Aaron, Evan and Adam of North Lima; and friends, Bob (Lois) Hart. Besides his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his younger brothers, Roger and Bobby Thomas. A committal service will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Jeffrey Mincher officiating.
