Poland - Paul Owen Stebelton, 81, of Poland, died Thursday evening after a long illness.
Paul was born June 16, 1931 in Fredericksburg, OH, a son of the late Paul and Helen Ohlin Stebelton and was raised in the New Middletown area.
An area homebuilder and land developer, Paul graduated from Springfield Local High School in 1949. He attended Youngstown College and its ROTC program and graduated in 1953 with a Bachelor Degree in Merchandising. While attending college Paul built his first home. After marrying his wife Dolores on June 20, 1953, they were stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska while Paul served as a lieutenant in the United States Army. Returning to the area, Paul founded the Stebelton Construction Company and has been building homes for over 55 years.
He was a member and past president of the Home Builders Association, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Riverside Cemetery in Poland, and was a founding board member and past president of the CASTLO Industrial Park in Struthers. Paul loved sports and was a fan of all the Cleveland teams. He also loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Paul leaves his wife of 59 years, the former Dolores Bryan, two sons, Michael Stebelton and Dr. David (Stephanie) Stebelton all of Poland; one brother, Atty. Richard (Patricia) Stebelton of Canfield; one sister, Carol (Kenneth) Tillinger of Houston, TX; and three grandchildren, Lauren, David Jr., and Jill Stebelton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, 11:00 AM at St. Paul the Apostle Church, New Middletown, with Fr. Stephen Popovich officiating. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Poland.
Friends will be received Sunday from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland and Monday from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM at the church.
