Struthers - Paul A. Ringos, 83, died early Thursday morning, July 25,2013, at Hospice House from lymphoma.
Paul was born January 30, 1930, in Struthers, a son of Joseph and Sophie Balascik Ringos.
A family man who lived his whole life in Struthers, Paul was a 1948 graduate of Struthers High School. While in school, Paul was an athletic young man who played for the Struthers Wildcats Baseball team and won four varsity letters in separate sports. He later was inducted into the Struthers Hall of Fame. He was an avid bowler, golfer and walker.
After graduating, Paul enlisted in the U.S. Navy Seabees and served for four years. He was proud of his country and his service, often entertaining his family with his Navy stories. Paul had good memories of his service years on various Pacific Islands but always said there was no where better than the United States of America. Later Paul spent much time working on the Struthers Memorial Veterans' Project.
For over 25 years, Paul worked for Mahoney Sash & Door as a truck driver. He later began working for the City of Struthers Waste Water Treatment Plant, retiring in July of 1993 after 12 years of service. He was a long time member of The First Catholic Slovak Union, and recently even taught some choice Slovak words to his grandchildren.
His wife of 56 years, the former Rose Marie Banozic, whom he married August 9, 1952, died September 28, 2008. Paul leaves his three daughters, Patricia (Daniel) Beach of Toledo, Cynthia (Steven) Donahue of Saline, MI, and Paula (Joseph) Drapcho of Avon Lake, OH; two sisters, Catherine Buchenic and Anna Marie Ringos both of Struthers; and five grandchildren, Stacie, Kimberly, Benjamin, Adam and Rachel.
He loved and was loved by his daughters. Always a part of their lives, among his many lessons teaching them to swim and ice skate. Later that same love carried to his sons-in-law and grandchildren. Paul and his wife Rose never missed a family gathering whether near or far. He will be deeply missed
Besides his parents and wife, Paul was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Ringos.
