Paul Melia Sr., 86
AUSTINTOWN Paul Melia Sr., 86, died Nov. 22, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Mr. Melia was born March 8, 1927, in Youngstown, a son of Rocco and Elizabeth Melia.
He worked at US Steel for 20 years and later worked for Tippecanoe Golf Course. He was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II stationed in Okinawa. He enjoyed playing the guitar and doing yard work.
His wife, the former Betty Mae Dickey, whom he married Feb. 14, 1945, died in 1999.
He is survived by one son, Paul (Kathy) Melia Sr. of Austintown; three brothers Joe Melia of Boardman, Richard (Mary) Melia of McDonald and Dominic
(Liz) Melia of Poland; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Besides his wife and parents, Paul was preceded in death by two sons, Rocco H. and Tony Melia; one daughter, Barb Melia; four brothers, Tony, Mike Albert, and Stewart Melia; and three sisters, Mary, Betty, and Katherine.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers.
Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery, with military honors.
Friends and family will be received Tuesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
