Youngstown - Paul F. McCann, 86, formerly of Struthers, died January 24, 2011 at the Hospice House.

Mr. McCann was born September 25, 1924 in Poland Township, a son of Herbert and Minnie McCann.

He was a 1942 graduate of Struthers High School and attended Youngstown College. Mr. McCann first worked for N.Y. Central Railroad, then CBI in Greenville, PA, and retired as traffic manager from Pitt DeMoine in Pittsburgh. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Florida until they moved back to the Youngstown area last year.

He attended St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers. Mr. McCann was a United States Army Veteran serving during World War II in the European Theatre and was a member of the American Legion, while he was in Florida. He enjoyed both flower and vegetable gardening.

He leaves his wife, the former Katharine "Kitty" Bill, whom he married June 10, 1946; three daughters, Barbara Decker of Columbiana, Gail Joseph of Warren, and Paula McCann of Canfield; three grandchildren, Jason and his wife, Niki, Decker of Orlando, Michael Joseph of Warren, and Matthew Joseph of Warren; and a great-grandchild, Joshua Decker.

In addition to his parents, Mr. McCann was preceded in death by his brother, Edward McCann.

A graveside committal service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lake Park Cemetery, 1459 E. Midlothian Blvd, Youngstown.

The family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions in Mr. McCann's name to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, Ohio, 44514.
