Paul H. Cramer

Canfield- Paul H. Cramer, 87, died June 6, 2018 at Hospice of the Valley's Hospice House.

Mr. Cramer was born September 30, 1930 in Youngstown, a son of the late Paul D. and Viola (Schroeder) Cramer.

A lifelong area resident, Paul was a 1948 graduate of Wilson High School and attended Youngstown College and Ohio University. After college, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving during the Korean Conflict. After his active duty service, he served for another 24 years in the United States Marine Corps Reserves, retiring in 1979 with the rank of Sergeant Major. Mr. Cramer was honored to have served on President Nixon's Committee for the Guard & Reserves.

While in the Reserves, Mr. Cramer worked as a journeyman for the UA Local 396. At the union, he served as an apprenticeship instructor and apprenticeship coordinator. He later worked for the Mahoning County Board of Health first as a plumbing inspector, then as chief plumbing inspector, and retired as an administrator in 2000.

He was a member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ, now known as Faith Community Covenant Church, where he served as a deacon, an elder emeritus, past president of the consistory and was a member and teacher of the Fortress Sunday School Class. Mr. Cramer was also an active member of the Marine Corps League and Sulgrave Lodge No. 696 F. & A.M.

He is survived by his wife, the former Ramona "Lynn" Busenberg, whom he married December 15, 1951; son, Jeffrey (Terry) Cramer of Poland; a brother, Donald Cramer of Poland; daughter-in-law, Vicky Cramer of North Port, FL; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Frank) Melia of Canfield, Amanda (Fritz) Foraker of Westerville, Mark Cramer of New York, NY, Jeffrey (Danielle) Cramer II of Poland, and Bryan (Kristen) Cramer of North Port, FL; and three great-grandchildren, Frank Melia III, Moxie Cramer, Evangeline Foraker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Randall Cramer.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., and Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. at Faith Community Covenant Church, 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd, where a funeral service will follow on Monday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Michael Zabel officiating. Interment will be at Lake Park Cemetery.

Memorial tributes may take the form of contributions in Mr. Cramer's name to Faith Community Covenant Church.

Paul was a gentle and modest man with a generous nature. He asked for little but received much from those who knew and loved him. He will forever live in our hearts.
