Poland - Paul A. Centofante, 85, of 7491 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road, died Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at his residence. Paul was born December 22, 1922 in Lowellville, a son of James and Flora DeLisio Centofante. He was a 1940 graduate of Lowellville High School and had worked as an electrical maintenance repairman for Wean United for 30 years retiring in 1988. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville. A United States Navy Veteran, Paul enlisted the day after Pearl Harbour was bombed and served on the U.S.S. Shelton. Paul's many joys were walking the Lowellville bike trail, golfing with his buddies and having breakfast with the old gang. He was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, Notre Dame and the New York Yankees. A true family man, Paul's greatest love was his family. He enjoyed spending time with them at home and on their annual vacation to the Outer Banks. He was the #1 chauffer to his grandchildren, always getting them to school, CCD Classes, music lessons, baseball, football and soccer practices. Besides his wife, Stephanie Dunchak, whom he married 62 years ago on July 27, 1946, he leaves four daughters, Cynthia (Jeff) White of New Bern, NC, Paula (James) Kane, Mary (Bob) Ramsbottom, and Carla Davanzo all of Poland; one son, Stephan Centofante of Lowellville; one brother, Edward (Alma) Centofante of Rockport, TX,; two friends, Hector Garcia and Michael Davanzo; fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his daughter; Erica Centofante-Smith; son, Mark Edward Centofante; two sisters, Mary Olive and Esterina Centofante; and a brother, Daniel Centofante. Funeral services will be held Monday, 9:45 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland and 10:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, Lowellville, with Rev. G. David Weikart officiating. Interment will follow in the Holy Rosary Cemetery, Lowellville. Friends will be received Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home, Poland.
