Patricia Ann Stanko

Poland - Patricia Ann Stanko, 63 of Poland, died after an intense, 10 month, courageous battle with cancer, Wednesday evening at her residence, with her family and the love of her life, her husband John by her side.

Patty was born February 17, 1950 in Youngstown, a daughter of John and Barbara Stroup Carroll.

A life-long resident of Youngstown, Patty was a 1968 graduate of Wilson High School. For five years, she was secretary for the Youngstown Diocese and later was director of the accounts receivable department of Humility of Mary Health Care Partners retiring in 2008 after 29 years of service.

Patty was a member of St. Michaels Byzantine Catholic Church in Campbell and attended Good Hope Lutheran Church in Boardman. A beloved wife to her husband John, and mother to her step-children, whom she considered her own, Patty loved spending her time with her family, vacationing in Pompano Beach, Florida and listening to music.

Patty leaves behind to cherish her memories, her husband John Stanko, whom she married September 21, 1996 by Msgr. Victor Romza at St. Michael's; five daughters, Cheryl (Gary) Abeid of Campbell, Regina (Saint) Sferra of Struthers, Teresa (Keith) Cua of Bristolville, Michelle Miranda of Campbell, and Yvonne Stanko of Long Island, NY; one son, Robert (Melissa) Stanko of Campbell; two sisters, Sue Carroll of Pittsburgh, PA and Debbie (Bill) Lovell of Boardman; thirteen grandchildren, Jessie Vrabel, Anthony Abeid, Ashley, John, and Kristen Miranda, Irfaan, Saahirah, and Zaakiyah Cua, Emily Fiorenza, Jacob, Sophia, and Noah Stanko, and Isabella Sferra; three great-grandchildren, Kila, Andrew, and Alivia; one nephew, Joe Lovell; and her loving dog Kali.

Besides her parents, Patty was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Carroll and one nephew, Billy Lovell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, 11:00 A.M. at St. Michaels Byzantine Catholic Church with Father Basil Marchak officiating. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.

Friends will be received Friday from 6-9 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, where Pastor Robert Quaintance of Good Hope Lutheran Church will have a prayer service at 8:00 PM. The Panachida will be conducted Saturday, 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home.

Patty's family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the wonderful care provided by Patty's Doctors, Drs. Barreiro, Wetzel, Shafi and the the staff at the Hope Center.
