Patricia A. Nelson

Struthers- Patricia A. Nelson, 82, died early Thursday morning, March 2, 2017 at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center.
Patricia, affectionately known as "Pat," was born January 15, 1935 in Whitmer, WV, a daughter of Thomas Heltzel and Argie (Harper) Hipp.
Raised in West Virginia, she was graduate of Harman High School and moved to the Youngstown area over 50 years ago. Mrs. Nelson centered her life around her family and home as a dedicated homemaker. Pat had a soft spot for helping the elderly and children, and she worked many years as a private caregiver. She also spent many years as a caregiver for her daughter who had multiple sclerosis.
In her free time, she enjoyed casino trips and flower gardening. Pat also loved to knit, gifting many of her afghans to family and friends.
Her husband, Willis D. Nelson, whom she married January 30, 1957, preceded her in death on November 2, 2014. She is survived by her four children, Jeff (Ann) Heltzel of Lowellville, Sheree (Bob) Tarnaski, Lisa Nelson, and John Nelson, all of Struthers; four sisters, Ruth Thompson of Gloucester, VA, Molly (Fred) Armentrout of Whitmer, WV, Sue (George) Senic of Alpena, WV, and Suzie Davis of Elkins, WV; brother, Robert Heltzel of Manassas, VA; son-in-law, Mike Markotan of Struthers; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Susie Markotan; and two brothers, Bobby Hedrick and Elwood Heltzel.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St., Struthers, where family and friends will be received on Sunday from 1-2:45 p.m., prior to the service.
