Olga Thurik, 89
STRUTHERS - Olga Thurik, 89, passed away Jan. 30, 2012.
She was born June 9, 1922, to Mary and Panko Wojtowicz in Pittsburgh.
A homemaker, Olga was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, whose life was centered around her family. She will be greatly missed and her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
She was a member of the Holy Trinity Church in Struthers and was also in the choir.
Olga married Mike Thurik on Oct. 11, 1941, in Youngstown and he passed away Feb. 13, 1977.
Surviving is her daughter, Patricia (Thurik) Sandfrey, with whom she made her home; her son, Michael N. Thurik and his wife, Carol of The Villages, Fla.; and her grandchildren, Eugene (Sonya) Sandfrey, Genine (Craig) Giampietro, Greg, Krissy and Kerri Thurik. Olga also is survived by twin granddaughters, Alyssa and Samantha Sandfrey. She will also be missed by her favorite cat, Madison. She also leaves a sister, Stella Trewella and a brother, John.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Steve Stevens; and her sister, Mary Lou Kasek.
Olga loved every minute of her life and spending it with her loving family. Now that God has called her home, she will spend eternity in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Private services will be held and a memorial service will follow.
Arrangements are being handled by the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers.
