Olen Emerson Uselton, 82 Boardman- Olen Emerson Uselton, 82, of Shepherd of the Valley formerly of Western Reserve Rd. died Tuesday afternoon at the nursing home. Mr. Uselton was born February 25, 1921 in East Palestine, a son of Frank and Laura Della Cover Uselton. He was a life-long resident of the area. He was a 1939 graduate of Columbiana High School and attended Youngstown College for two years. He was a food broker and retired from his own company, Uselton Sales, in 1991. He was a United States Army veteran serving in World War II from 1942 until 1946. He then served in the Army Reserves, 83rd Infantry Division. Mr. Uselton was a member of GMRY where he was past president and voted âa�A"Man of the Year.âa�A� He was a 60-year member of Argus Masonic Lodge No. 545, the Aut Mori Grotto where he was UKEE the clown for their clown unit, Grotto Old Timers and Poland Breakfast Club. He enjoyed theater and was very active in the Market Street Youngstown Playhouse and the OHEV-TZEDEK Temple Productions. He sang with the Youngstown Chapter of SPESQA and emceed many of their concerts. A ukulele player he entertained many churches, senior centers and hospitals. He played the âa�A"bonesâa�A� and became a personal friend of Myron Floren. Each time Myron came to the area with his show he would invite Mr. Uselton to perform with him and one time played the âa�A"bonesâa�A� with Jo Ann Castle at the Welk Show in Branson, Missouri. He was a member of the Canfield AARP and the Columbiana American Legion #290. He was an avid golfer and played for various leagues including Argus Golf League and Protestant Church League. He was a member of Faith Community Church in Youngstown. Besides his wife the former Emogene Smith whom he married November 29, 1943 he leaves two daughters, Gail (Ray) Constance of North Lima and Linda (Richard) Fabian of Boardman; one sister, Lenore Hoffman of Columbiana; four grandchildren, Kimberly (Kevin) Clark, Renee (Adam) Arkwright, Daniel (Amy) Fabian and Mark (Rebecca) Fabian; four great-grandchildren, Braedon Fabian, Logan and Ethan Clark and Megan Arkwright. Besides his parents, one brother, Richard Uselton preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Saturday, 10:00 AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland. Friends may call Friday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. A Grotto Memorial Service will be conducted at 7:45 PM Friday and the Argus Masonic service will be held at 8:00 PM.
