Norman Clair Johnston, 84 Poland- Norman Clair Johnston, 84, of 259 N. Main Street, died Thursday morning at his residence. Mr. Johnston was born December 5, 1921 in Indiana, Pa., a son of Simon and Mabel Gibson Johnston. He came to Poland in 1956. A veteran of the United States Air Force, Mr. Johnston served in World War II. He was a carpenter by trade and was employed by several prominent local contractors before retiring in 1985. Mr. Johnston was a member of the Poland United Methodist Church, Carpenters Local 171 and Lowellville Rod and Gun Club. He leaves his wife the former Audrey Martin whom he married October 29, 1948; four daughters, Debbie (Paul) Denmeade of Poland, Cindy Charlotte of North Olmsted, Ohio, Cathy (Larry) Duck of Poland and Julie (Garry) Stone of Darien, Illinois; and five grandchildren. Besides his parents, Mr. Johnston was preceded in death by one son, John Johnston, two brothers, Eugene and Wilmer Johnston, and an infant granddaughter, Stacey Denmeade.
