Norma H. Rothman

Norma H. Rothman, 79, died September 2, 2016 at Hospice of the Valley's Hospice House with her family by her side.

Norma was born June 7, 1937 in Richmond, VA, a daughter of Joe and Hattie Sherman Hurowitz.

Raised in Richmond, she was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. In 1957, Mrs. Rothman relocated to Youngstown and later to Boardman. She worked as vice president for Quality Tea and Coffee for over 30 years and retired from NEFF after working 10 years in customer service.

She was a member of the Congregation Rodef Sholom in Youngstown and its Sisterhood and Consolation Committee. She was also a former board member of the Florence Crittenden Home.

In her free time, she enjoyed playing Mah-Jong with her many friends and spending time with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Norma is survived by her son, Stuart (Kathleen) Rothman of Boardman; two daughters, Ellyn (David) Roberts of North Canton and Ruth Rothman of Colorado Springs; sister, Rita Hartman of Sardis, Georgia; brother, Melvin (Beverly) Hurowitz of Bradenton, Florida; and five grandchildren, Jeremy Rothman, Allie (Anthony) Jania, Hannah Roberts, Jamie Roberts, and Jack Tully.

In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her brother, Bernard Hurowitz.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m at the Sir Moses Montefiore Cemetery, Jennie Scher Road, Richmond, VA.

A local memorial service will be held on Sunday at 11 a.m. at Rodef Sholom in Youngstown, where family and friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Mrs. Rothman's name to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514 or to Rodef Sholom, 1119 Elm Street, Youngstown, OH 44505.

Arrangements are being handled by the Davis-Becker Funeral Home.
