Sarasota, FL - Norene W. Wilson, 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 7, 2024, in Sarasota, Florida.
Norene was born on August 15, 1931, in Youngstown, Ohio, to the late Howard and Isabel Beckstine Ware. She grew up in Struthers graduating from Struthers High School, Class of 1949 and later attended Youngstown College. Norene worked as a supervisor at various establishments including the former Howard Johnson Motor Lodge in Youngstown. the Red Barn in Poland, and The Hub in downtown Youngstown, before retiring in 1980.
Following her retirement, Norene made Sunrise Condominiums in Sarasota, Florida her full-time residence. She dedicated 40 years of service as the president of the condo association. Norene, a former bowler, was involved in several weekly bowling leagues and took pride in her highest average score of 184. She made memories, hosting pool parties, traveling, and visiting casinos. She was a committed supporter of Fallen Warriors.
Those who knew Norene will remember her for her wealth of knowledge, good business sense, determination, and caring nature.
Norene is survived by her son, Jack A. (Laurie) Wilson of Shreveport, Louisiana; and her beloved grandbaby pups, Sugar and Cocoa. She will be dearly missed by many special friends, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, extended family members, and friends. Her family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Norene's friends, Cindy and Danny Travers, for their exceptional support.
In addition to her parents and former husband Chuck Wilson, Norene was preceded in death by her sister, Ila (Jerry) Meehan; brother, Bernard (Willabelle) Allen; her star race car driver, Charlie Jasinski; and dearest and closest friend, Doris Hand.
The memory of Norene Wilson will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Per Norene's wishes there are no calling hours or funeral service. Norene will be laid to rest at Lake Park Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may take the form of contributions in Norene's name to the donor's choice of local rescue centers.
